The Cyberbullying Workgroup will produce a white paper examing unexplored areas of research on cyberbullying, which will address the definition and operationalization of the term “cyberbullying,” which is currently overgeneralized; the overlap between bullying and cyberbullying, which is poorly delineated; and a review of bullying prevention programs that include modules addressing cyberbullying. Specific areas of research requiring additional focus are the satisfaction with, and use of, social media in children; the need for longitudinal research focusing on cyberbullying; and the perceptual changes that occur in digital communications that may lead to cyberbullying between children.
The members of this workgroup are: Elizabeth Englander, Ph.D. (chair), Patricia Agatston, Ph.D., Brad Bushman, Ph.D., Katie Davis, Ph.D., Kelly Dillon, Ph.D., Mike Donlin, Ed Donnerstein, Ph.D., David Finkelhor, Ph.D., Sameer Hindijua, Ph.D., Robin Kowalski, Ph.D., Susan Limber, Ph.D., Carolyn Lin, Ph.D., and Michele Ybarra.
